intreXis continues to expand its highly proven range of dead-battery start devices for 750 VDC overhead line applications in rail vehicles. In addition to the established 24, 48, 72, and 110 VDC versions, a new 36 VDC output model is now ready to launch — perfectly tailored to meet the demand of North American rail projects with 36 VDC onboard voltages.

intreXis dead-battery start deviceDesigned for the toughest environments, these flat-battery start units are connected directly to the overhead line via the busbar and are therefore exposed to high-energy surges that conventional components such as varistors or TransZorbs simply cannot handle. The integrated active surge limiter, featuring advanced silicon carbide (SiC) Schottky diodes, takes a smarter approach: instead of dissipating surge energy as heat, it stores and releases it gradually to the converter stage. This innovative design enables the unit to withstand extremely long and repeated surge pulses – ensuring reliable emergency start functionality for both vehicle and operator over many years.

Beyond its cutting-edge surge protection, the latest model also delivers the trusted performance features customers rely on:

  • 250 W nominal power
  • 400 W power boost for 500 ms, ensuring reliable switching of circuit breakers
  • Compact form factor (L/W/H: 235 × 160 × 60.5) combined with a lightweight design of just 1.2 kg

The result: a rugged, field-proven, and highly reliable device – now available with a 36 VDC output option, unlocking even greater flexibility for rail applications.
