The first semi-autonomous trains with Grade of Automation 2 (GoA2) are now operating in Switzerland. BLT Baselland Transport AG has become the first railway company in Switzerland to introduce GoA2 operations on the metric gauge Liestal–Waldenburg line. Approved by the Swiss Federal Office of Transport (BAV) for passenger operations in December, Stadler’s NOVA Pro train protection technology automates driving, braking, and station stops, while a driver remains on board to supervise and intervene if needed.
