LTG Cargo Polska has announced the introduction of 72 new pocket wagons on the European gauge (1,435 mm) line from Kaunas to Duisburg.

Specifically designed for the line, which also includes a stop at a major Polish logistics hub in Łódź; the 72 new railcars were manufactured last year by Kolowag specifically for LTG Cargo Polska.

Each unit has been configured for intermodal transport, allowing for standard semi-trailers to be quickly and easily loaded without the need for any special securing process.

Laimonas Nekrošius, President of LTG Cargo Polska, said:

LTG Cargo Polska places a strong emphasis on operational efficiency and improving customer experience. The new pocket wagons will ensure the reliability of the transport services.

We believe that both we and our customers will benefit from this purchase.

The purchase of the wagons was co-financed by the European Union in the form of public aid under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

The cargo route from Kaunas to Duisburg was first launched in 2022 following the connection of the European standard‑gauge (1,435 mm) line to the Kaunas intermodal terminal. Now, intermodal cargo runs along the route three times per week, which was last year extended to include the stop in Łódź.
