Czech private rail operator Leo Express has officially presented the new visual identity of its Talgo long-distance trainsets for the first time. Their entry into service and deployment on routes in the Czech Republic and Slovakia during the first half of this year will represent a major milestone in the further development of Central European long-distance rail connections.
New line is planned
Leo Express plans to deploy the trains on the Prague – Přerov – Hulín – Otrokovice – Staré Město u Uherského Hradiště route, continuing via Hodonín and Břeclav to Bratislava main station. Leo Express will operate two train pairs per day. One connection will start and terminate at Bratislava-Petržalka station, providing a direct rail connection between one of Bratislava’s most densely populated districts and Prague.
Following the launch of the new line, Leo Express will introduce direct services on routes that have not previously been served, including Zábřeh na Moravě – Bratislava, Olomouc – Bratislava and Hulín – Bratislava. In Bratislava, trains will call both at the main station, offering connections to Leo Express suburban services to Dunajská Streda and Komárno and at Bratislava-Petržalka. Such a combination of direct links is currently not offered by any other operator, and Leo Express expects the new services to attract a significant number of new passengers.
“Deploying Talgo trainsets marks a new phase in Leo Express’s development. It is not just about a new design, but about expanding our service portfolio, network reach and brand ambitions. We will offer new direct connections that other operators do not provide,” said Peter Köhler, CEO of Leo Express.
Exotic units
The Talgo trainsets are 13-car formations with a total capacity of 350 passengers, acquired through a partnership with Renfe. They combine a low-floor concept with full step-free accessibility. Thanks to the tilting system and advanced bogie design, the trains offer smooth and comfortable running even on curved sections of line. The maximum operating speed reaches up to 200 km/h, with Leo Express planning to haul the sets using multi-system locomotives.

Leo Express unveils new visual identity for Talgo long-distance trains
The new Talgo livery further develops Leo Express’s visual identity. It is now dominated by a white base colour, complemented by bold orange accents and technology-inspired graphic elements that emphasise dynamism, speed and the operator’s international character.
The exterior design is built around a clear structure of individual cars, strong brand visibility and visual motifs referencing European connectivity and modern mobility. Unconventionally, the Leo Express logo and the company’s website address are also placed on the roof of the trainsets, enhancing brand recognition from elevated viewpoints.
At the same time, preparations are under way for the train interiors. Passengers can expect a high level of comfort, with generously proportioned seating and space well above average in both Business and Economy classes.
