Jakarta, April 15, 2026 – PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) (“KAI”), Indonesia’s national railway operator, PT Solusi Sinergi Digital Tbk (“SURGE”), and PT Huawei Tech Investment (“Huawei”) signed today a strategic tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to accelerate the adoption of 5G+AI technologies across Indonesia’s railway system. The collaboration aims to enhance railway safety, operational efficiency, and passenger experience.

  1. Under the MOU, the three parties will jointly explore and deploy advanced solutions across three key areas:
    ICT (Information and Communication Technology) Infrastructure Cooperation
    Deploy high-reliability backbone networks, high-quality wireless coverage at stations and depots, and cloud-based solutions to ensure business continuity and flexible service expansion.
  2. 5G FRMCS (Future Railway Mobile Communication System) Network and Applications
    Provide industry-leading 5G FRMCS networks bearing train signaling and advanced multimedia applications, enhancing railway safety, efficiency, and service quality. This includes pilot projects on the Rangkasbitung – Tanah Abang line focusing on level-crossing safety and intelligent dispatching.
  3. AI-Powered Freight Car Detection
    Apply AI video analysis to enable intelligent fault detection and automatic warnings for freight trains, improving turnover efficiency and reducing the need for manual inspections.
