The official opening title for InnoTrans 2026 has been announced as “Mobility on a global scale – shaping projects and growth opportunities,” reflecting a focus on international development across the rail and transport technology sector.

The trade fair, which marks 30 years since its first edition, will take place from 22 to 25 September 2026 at the Messe Berlin Exhibition Grounds. The anniversary event will centre on global market growth alongside technological change in rail and public transport.

InnoTrans brings together manufacturers, operators, infrastructure managers, policymakers and researchers from across the world. The 2026 programme will highlight developments in artificial intelligence, autonomous public transport, digitalisation and cybersecurity, alongside continuing interest in night train services.

Demand for exhibition space has been strong. More than six months before the event, all 200,000 square metres of exhibition space have been allocated, including 42 halls, outdoor and track areas, and the bus display in the Summer Garden.

Kerstin Schulz, Director of InnoTrans said:

The enormous interest from industry, politics, and science shows how great the need is for international exchange and forward-looking solutions for sustainable mobility. The fact that InnoTrans is completely booked up at such an early stage is, in my view, a strong signal for our work over the past 30 years.

Technology themes at InnoTrans 2026 will include autonomous local public transport, robotics, 3D printing and the application of artificial intelligence in operations and maintenance. Cybersecurity is also expected to feature prominently, reflecting its growing relevance to digital rail systems.

Night trains will also form a dedicated area of interest, with exhibitors presenting new concepts and mock-ups aimed at improving overnight rail travel. Sustainability, electrification, data use and digital tools will be recurring topics across the exhibition.

A new feature for 2026 is the InnoTrans Hackathon, which will be held under the theme “AI on Track”. Participants will work on practical applications of artificial intelligence to address specific challenges facing the mobility sector.

The event will also introduce a new networking format for younger professionals. The Young Generation Round Table, part of InnoTrans Campus 2026, will take place on Thursday 24 September in Hall 5.3, offering an opportunity for early-career professionals and industry networks to exchange views and build contacts.

InnoTrans is held every two years in Berlin and covers five core segments: Railway Technology, Railway Infrastructure, Public Transport, Interiors and Tunnel Construction. The 2026 edition will be the 15th InnoTrans, organised by Messe Berlin. Messe Berlin also hosts InnoTrans Asia, with the first event scheduled for September 2027 in Singapore.
