A new cross-border rail project between Poland and Ukraine has kicked off, with EU funding being deployed to upgrade a border-line station in south-east Poland and improve accessibility at one of Ukraine’s most important rail hubs, Lviv. Aimed at boosting cross-border capacity and easing travel for vulnerable passengers, including injured soldiers, the project is being framed as way to bring Ukraine and its network further into the EU fold.
