Scope of works for Craiova–Filiași railway
The Craiova–Filiași railway modernisation project aims to upgrade the infrastructure in line with Technical Specifications for Interoperability. The line will be electrified at 25 kV, enabling freight trains to operate at speeds of 100–120 km/h and passenger trains at 120–160 km/h. Modern electronic interlocking systems and the ERTMS Level 2 signalling system will be implemented to ensure real-time train control and safety.
The infrastructure will support an axle load of up to 22.5 tonnes and trains up to 740 metres in length. Stations will be fitted with high platforms up to 400 metres long, in accordance with European standards.
Works also include the rehabilitation of existing station buildings, upgrades to sanitary, electrical and heating systems, and improved passenger flow arrangements. A new operational control centre building will also be constructed. Throughout the section, electrification systems will be modernised and noise-reduction measures will be introduced, including the installation of sound-absorbing barriers.
