From November 2027, the City Airport Train (CAT) will introduce a new generation of rolling stock on the route linking Vienna Airport with central Vienna. The service will be operated by five-car Class 4705 double-deck Stadler KISS trains, in the KISS200 configuration, specifically designed to handle high passenger volumes while maintaining fast and reliable express operations.

The train we see now looks very different from what was expected (check this design from 2023!). Moodley strategy & design group has developed a new visual identity (but with old logos?) with new emerald green and anthracite tones. This colour scheme is intended to “convey elegance, clarity, and performance, while ensuring the trains are instantly recognisable even from a distance.”

The bright CAT green dominates the flowing signature lines, while emerald green adds a refined and sophisticated character. Anthracite elements provide visual balance and serve as a backdrop for the CAT logo, expressing speed and dependable high-performance mobility between the city and the airport.

To support passenger orientation, the trains will feature a clear external pictogram and wayfinding system at platform level. The new CAT fleet will also be fully PRM-compliant, ensuring barrier-free access for all passengers.
