CargoBeamer has extended its intermodal service from Liège to Parma, pushing one of its transalpine connections further into northern Italy. The route, which has been operating since January 2026 between Liège and Domodossola, was extended as planned last week and now reaches the CEPIM terminal in Parma.

The new configuration connects Belgium to one of northern Italy’s key logistics hubs, including an area with a strong presence in the food industry and regional freight flows.

Six round trips per week

According to the company, the service continues to operate at the maximum announced frequency of six round trips per week.

Rail traction on this connection continues to be provided by BLS Cargo.

Semi-trailers, containers, and special equipment

CargoBeamer states that the service is open to all major types of cargo units, including: The company particularly emphasizes its system’s ability to transport semi-trailers, which are typically more difficult to transfer from road to rail.

Parma joins CargoBeamer’s strategy for the Alps

The Liège–Parma connection is part of CargoBeamer’s broader strategy to build a dense, high-frequency intermodal network across the Alps for the European logistics sector.

The operator presents this expansion as a step toward consolidating scalable and more environmentally friendly transport solutions, at a time when pressure to shift freight from road to rail remains high in Europe.

CargoBeamer currently operates trains in Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Romania.
