
Belgium’s state-owned railway operator SNCB has officially inaugurated a new €47 million maintenance hall at its traction workshop in Ostend. This marks the fifth new maintenance facility opened in recent years as part of its €1.4 billion workshop modernisation plan. The 200-meter-long, 18-meter-wide facility fits in the a ‘pit stop’ maintenance principle the company is implementing, designed to improve train availability, reliability, and punctuality.
