The high-speed train crash in Spain has been called ‘strange’ by both Transport Minister Óscar Puente and Renfe president Álvaro Fernández Heredia. With a death toll of at least 39 and more than 150 injured, investigations are ongoing into Sunday’s railway tragedy. Moreover, the Iryo train (which first derailed) was less than 4 years old and had been inspected just 3 days before the crash, and it took place on a section of track renovated just last year.
