The Lithuanian railway infrastructure manager, LTG Infra, has signed two contracts for the design and construction supervision of infrastructure at Rail Baltica regional stations. Both tenders were won by the Italian company Sintagma.

The value of the design and construction supervision work for the infrastructure at Jonava station amounts to EUR 2.18 million, and for Panevėžys (Gustonys) station, which will be larger in scale, the value is EUR 7 million (including VAT).

“Regional infrastructure includes not only the railway itself, but also the connections, stations, and passenger stops that integrate rail transport with other modes of transport. The more convenient and accessible the infrastructure is, the better the connectivity between regions. The Rail Baltica infrastructure is designed and implemented in accordance with the highest standards of sustainable and efficient mobility,” said Arūnas Rumskas, interim CEO of the LTG Group.

Rail Baltica regional stations designed for modern mobility

Sintagma is an Italian engineering company specializing in large-scale infrastructure projects, primarily in the design of railways, roads, and bridges.

“Rail Baltica is not only developing transport infrastructure but also creating economic value across Europe by involving companies from various EU member states. This stimulates competition, innovation, and the exchange of expertise, while also offering regions in Lithuania the opportunity to become an active part of European economic value chains,” said Vytautas Radzevičius, Director of Strategy and Business Development at LTG Group.

Sintagma will design the infrastructure for the Panevėžys (Gustonys) passenger station and the Jonava stop, including utility networks, railway lines and access roads, viaducts, and platforms. Four platforms are planned in the Panevėžys district and two in Jonava.

The signed agreements stipulate that the infrastructure must meet modern functional requirements, including convenient and safe access, as well as clear passenger guidance and information systems.

Design services are to be delivered within 24 months. Upon completion of the design phase, construction contracts will be signed, under which Sintagma will provide construction supervision services.

The company is responsible for designing the railway station infrastructure. The station buildings will be designed as part of separate projects.
