More stations and tunnels within London’s Underground network now have access to 4G and 5G mobile services, following further progress by Transport for London (TfL) and Boldyn Networks.

Coverage has recently gone live at stations including Euston Square, Cannon Street and Battersea Power Station. Alongside the completed Elizabeth line, 62 of the 121 Tube stations located underground now have mobile connectivity in ticket halls, corridors and on platforms. Additional stations, including King’s Cross St Pancras, Gloucester Road, Warwick Avenue and Vauxhall, are expected to follow in the coming months.

Mobile coverage has also been introduced in tunnel sections for the first time on parts of the Circle and District lines, including between Blackfriars and Cannon Street, and between Notting Hill Gate and Bayswater. TfL and Boldyn expect most of the Northern and Metropolitan lines to have tunnel coverage by the end of summer 2026.

All four UK mobile network operators—EE, Three UK, Vodafone and Virgin Media O2—are participating in the rollout. The infrastructure will also support the Emergency Services Network, providing connectivity for emergency responders underground.

Deputy Mayor for Transport, Seb Dance, said:

I am delighted to see the promise the Mayor made of delivering 4G and 5G across the London Underground continuing to progress, with Euston Square, Cannon Street and Battersea Power Station joining an ever-growing network of lines and stations with full connectivity.

This means Londoners and visitors can now access the latest travel information or social media, check their emails, make calls, and stream videos whilst on the move underground. Growing numbers of underground Tube stations now have 4G and 5G services, with more to come as we continue to build a better London for everyone.

Work is continuing across the Tube, Docklands Light Railway, Elizabeth line and the Windrush line, with the aim of delivering mobile coverage across the entire Underground network by the end of 2026. Installation activity is taking place largely overnight to minimise disruption to passenger services.
