USA: Locomotive onboard system manufacturer Bohr Electronics has launched its P/N F3661 Fuel Monitor, a supplier-agnostic unit designed to deliver accurate, real-time fuel-level measurement and integrate with onboard data acquisition systems across mixed fleets.

Designed for straightforward installation without requiring modifications to current locomotive systems, the Fuel Monitor uses an ultrasonic in-tank sensing paired with an externally-mounted digital display. It interfaces with Bohr’s locomotive event recorders, including LEAM/LEAR, enabling fuel data to be captured, recorded and correlated with other operational parameters.

The manufacturer says the unit provides consistent measurement across varying fuel conditions, tank geometries and operating environments, with an integrated inertial measurement capability that compensates for fuel slosh and gradients.

‘Fuel monitoring is most effective when it is both accurate at the source and accessible within the onboard data system’, said Dillon Steen, Engineering Manager of Bohr Electronics. ‘Our Fuel Monitor provides reliable in-tank measurement while ensuring that data is available within the locomotive’s event and reporting architecture.’
