Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK) has launched a procurement procedure for companies looking to construct a key section of the new High-Speed Rail line between Warsaw and Łódź.

The chosen company will be tasked with the construction of a 14.3-kilometre section of the Y railway line, which will connect the airport and Bolimowski junctions.

All participation requests must be received by 12 June 2026, with the first stage of procurement set to see CPK collect applications from interested companies and consortia, before the second stage sees all applications assessed, taking into account experience in previous railway construction projects, after which up to five potential contractors will be selected for dialogue.

The contract covers construction works with a number of design elements for projects carried out under the scheme entitled ‘Design and construction of high-speed railway line no. 85 between the airport junction and the Bolimowski junction (excluding the junctions)’. This section will form part of the aforementioned railway Y, which will connect Warsaw, Łódź, Poznań and Wrocław.

Trains on the Y line will operate at speeds of up to 350 km/h, thanks in part to technical parameters, geometric alignment, grade-separated crossings, anti-vibration and acoustic protection measures, as well as a new 25 kV AC standard in Poland for overhead line power supply.

This new contract will be delivered under an ‘optimise and build’ model, in which the chosen contractor will be responsible (based on the provided construction designs for the line) for preparing detailed design documentation (including construction, technological and workshop designs) before subsequently constructing 14.3km of High-Speed railway line designed for speeds up to 350 km/h. The project will also include the implementation of 55 engineering structures (including bridges and road and rail viaducts, drainage culverts and wildlife crossings), as well as the reconstruction or construction of approximately 30km of roads.

Piotr Rachwalski, Port Polska, Member of the Management Board of Centralny Port Komunikacyjny for Rail, said:

We are maintaining the pace of construction procurements for the first High-Speed railway line between Warsaw and Łódź, which we have divided into six sections.

The section for which we have announced the competitive dialogue today begins just beyond the airport and runs to the Bolimowski junction.

CPK recently announced that a set of seventeen companies grouped into six consortia have applied for a tender to construct the 13-kilometre stretch of high-speed track between Kotowice (in the Mazovia region) and the airport junction.
