In 2025, new night train startup Nox set off its effort to create a better night train product for Europe. The company has now announced it has raised a EUR 2 million pre-seed investment.

The investment comes from Berlin based IBB Ventures, with backing from Italian investor Tommaso Lucca and industry experts, such as Patrick Andrae. The Berlin-based investor is an active player in early-stage financing of new startups. Nox Mobility has stated it will use the investment to accelerate the startup’s team growth, create a full-scale mockup of the envisaged coach, and prepare for its commercial launch in 2027.

Nox is focussed on building a new generation of night trains designed to make overnight rail a viable alternative to short-haul flights for both leisure travellers and business passengers in Europe. It was founded by Thibault Constant (from YouTube Channel Simply Railway), Janek Smalla (previously employed at Flixtrain), and Artur Hasselbach.

“More than six hundred thousand people follow Simply Railway because they believe in the potential of night trains. They tell me every week what’ Nox Mobility is the result of years of riding night trains, discussing with customers and seeing what works and what doesn’t” – Thibault Constant, Co-Founder of Nox Mobility.

About the coaches
The company has already reserved train coaches. Each coach will offer private suites, which will be completely customised to Nox’ envisaged design. This means the cabin sharing between 6 people will be a thing of the past. Each coach will be the same, and offer three types of rooms:

  • The single and double loft feature a separate seating area with an upper bed (single or double).
  • The double vista is a room that is easily convertible from day to night mode, easy to access and with a panoramic view from the bed.
