JAPAN: The first of three four-car Series L00 rubber-tyred automated guideway transit trainsets has entered service on the Yamaguchi Line peoplemover in the greater Toyko area.
The Series L00 trainsets are being supplied by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries for use by Seibu Railwayon the 2·8 km long, three-station Yamaguchi Line which connects Tamako to Seibukyujo-mae.
The first trainset which entered service on March 27 is branded for the Saitama Seibu Lions baseball team based at Belluna Dome. The remaining two are due for delivery by the end of 2027.
The trainsets are replacing the existing 41-year old Series 8500 fleet. Changes include longitudinal seating to increase capacity to serve Seibu Group’s Belluna Dome and Seibu Amusement Park, as well as the provision of wheelchair spaces, dedicated family seating and information displays.
