Stadler has announced the opening of a new train workshop in Obersiebenbrunn, near Vienna.
The new site, which had its official opening on 10 April, is set to play a central role in the delivery of contracted maintenance of high-speed trains, as well as the delivery of all the company’s rolling stock projects.

With the site’s opening, Stadler has begun expanding its overall capacity for commissioning, certification and servicing of modern rail vehicles across Austria.
March 2026 saw the first vehicles serviced in the 4,600 m² workshop, with maintenance carried out on Westbahn’s high-speed trains. It was built as an extension of the existing railway siding on the AGRANA site in Obersiebenbrunn / Leopoldsdorf, and features a 200 km/h line that will be equipped with ETCS in the future.
Peter Spuhler, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Stadler, said:
Austria is an important market for us. That is why we are systematically expanding our presence. The new service centre is a key piece of the puzzle in this regard.
With the new workshop, we are creating the conditions to maintain the high-speed trains efficiently. This is crucial for the stable and reliable operation of the trains.
In the future, the space, which was realised as part of a collaboration with STRABAG, will be offered to any operator currently providing servicing work for Stadler-made vehicles.
Franz Redl, Member of the Executive Board of STRABAG AG Austria, said:
With the new maintenance hall, we have, together with Stadler, made an important contribution to a modern and reliable rail infrastructure in Austria in just seven months of construction.
It significantly strengthens the rail system because modern rolling stock can be maintained more quickly and efficiently. Thousands of passengers benefit from this every day. Such infrastructure projects enhance the quality of public transport and make Austria a more attractive location for business and mobility in the long term.
The project is intended to make a contribution to the further development of rail transport in Austria, as well as strengthen the country from a business location.
Peter Hanke, Federal Minister for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure, said:
The rail industry is a key sector for Austria and Europe: it creates tens of thousands of jobs, drives innovation and strengthens our industrial value creation.
Stadler’s new hall represents a targeted investment in this future – in modern infrastructure, expertise and competitiveness. Such projects secure value creation in the country and sustainably strengthen Austria as a high-performing rail and industrial hub.
