Alstom has announced an open house at its Belfort site on Saturday 31 January for any candidates interested in applying for the position of boilermaker or welder.

The occasion will see the site showcase teams, projects, processes and products, with welders having until 23 January to register for the event.

Alstom has stated that it intends to hire ‘several dozen’ new workers in Spring 2026.

The open house forms part of a wider recruitment plan linked to the site’s raft of newly increased workload and upcoming projects, with 200 new employees set to join the team by the end of the year in either a permanent or temporary basis across the company’s business lines.

David Journet, Director of the Alstom site in Belfort, said:

Our site is experiencing strong momentum, with high-speed rail projects growing rapidly, both in France and internationally, and a recent major contract with Ukrainian Railways. The Services business is also booming.

The boilermaker-welder profession is a noble and essential trade for the quality of products for our customers. Alstom’s growth in Belfort depends on mastering its welding processes.

Alstom’s site in Belfort is set to celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2029, and currently serves as the design and manufacturing base for the Avelia Horizon high-speed train power cars and Traxx locomotives. It recently received funding as part of Alstom’s 150 million EUR French investment plan, which will be utilised largely to increase capacity and production rate at its sites.

Of the 150 million EUR sum; 30 million EUR has been designated for improvements at the Belfort site itself, such as the construction of a new building for activities preparing for the commercial entry into service of very high-speed trains, the creation of a second high-speed metalwork and finishing line for the manufacture and assembly of high-speed train power cars, and the improvement of facilities dedicated to static testing and trainset testing.

Those interested in attending the site’s open day on 31 January are advised to register their interest on Alstom’s dedicated platform, here, before 23 January.

Others interested in different roles are urged to submit their CV and cover letter to the company’s Human Resources department, here.

Following the open house, those interested in further commitment will be able to speak with managers before a formal recruitment process begins in the weeks following.
