There are plans to extend Edinburgh’s controversial tram network – all one line of it. The popular but hugely expensive line would truly become a network, with a second and third line now proposed, albeit with an indeterminate timeline. A new route would also use Edinburgh’s south suburban railway, which has not had a regular passenger service for seven decades. However, questions remain over whether any of these ambitions will be realised.
