Trenitalia France has signed a 35-year lease agreement with SNCF Réseau for a railway site located at Maisons-Alfort Pompadour, with the aim of constructing a maintenance hub in Paris dedicated to high-speed trains.

The site is located in the Île-de-France region. The investment amounts to EUR 80 million, with the facility expected to enter service by the end of 2029.

The new infrastructure will enable Trenitalia France, part of the Italian FS Group, to strengthen the operational management of its rolling stock fleet, improving the efficiency of maintenance activities and supporting the development of its rail services in the French market. The Paris maintenance hub will also support future Frecciarossa high-speed services between Paris and London via the Channel Tunnel.

The hub will be designed to operate 24 hours a day and will include three tracks equipped for the simultaneous maintenance of three trainsets, as well as facilities dedicated to train washing, cleaning, and stabling. At full capacity, the site will be able to accommodate up to 25 trainsets. The development of this new facility also represents a strategic element for the Group’s international expansion.

The initiative forms part of the international growth strategy outlined in the FS Group’s Industrial Plan, which aims to strengthen its presence along Europe’s main high-speed corridors and to develop new competitive and sustainable rail connections between major cities across the continent.

“Through this investment, we are strengthening the FS Group’s industrial presence in France and supporting the development of European rail mobility. The new maintenance centre represents a strategic infrastructure to support the growth of Trenitalia’s activities in the country and future high-speed links between Paris and London, helping to make rail a central pillar of sustainable mobility in Europe,” said Stefano Antonio Donnarumma, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of the FS Italiane Group.

In addition to its industrial significance, the project will also have positive local impacts. The construction and operation of the maintenance hub will create around 100 new jobs, both directly and indirectly, through the involvement of partner companies in maintenance and operational support services.
