The Transmashholding (TMH) plant in Mytishchi and the Minsk Metro have signed a contract for 15 new Minsk-2024 metro cars, which will be delivered by the end of 2026.

Under the contract, TMH will supply 3 Minsk-2024 metro trains, each consisting of 5 cars.
The contract was signed following a tender organised by the Tender Centre of the Minsk City Executive Committee.

“Belarus has traditionally been a close partner for us; such cooperative efforts as new deliveries of modern metro trains or the introduction of digital centralisation in the Minsk Metro contribute to strengthening bilateral cooperation and developing technological partnership between our countries,” said Roman Mironov, Director for Urban Transport Development at Transmashholding.

Inside, the metro trains feature open gangways between cars and wide doors fitted with sliding mechanisms with anti-trap protection, allowing a high passenger flow during boarding and alighting. They are equipped with additional lighting used to signal the opening and closing of doors to passengers. A modern HVAC system maintains a comfortable temperature inside the train at all times, while air disinfection is ensured by ultraviolet lamps integrated into the air conditioning system.

The low levels of noise and vibration are achieved through the use of pneumatic suspension and modern insulation materials.

“In designing and manufacturing our products, we carefully take into account customer feedback. The Minsk-2024 metro trains were developed by TMH-Engineering in accordance with the technical specifications of the Minsk Metro and represent modern design, comfort and advanced technological solutions. They meet all modern requirements for comfort and safety in urban transport,” said Andrey Stepnov, CEO of the TMH plant in Mytishchi.

The asynchronous traction motors are manufactured in Russia, while the TMH plant in Mytishchi makes extensive use of Belarusian components and equipment in train production.

TMH TM (part of TMH-Intelligent Systems) implements innovative digital solutions that increase safety and the level of automation in the Minsk Metro. Microprocessor-based centralisation is one of these solutions.

The Minsk-2024 model is equipped with an innovative train safety and automation system. It manages route operation, target speed, traction control and braking. This level of automation reduces the driver’s workload, allowing greater attention to be paid to the operational context.

TMH has been cooperating with the Minsk Metro for over 40 years. Recently, the company delivered 48 new Minsk-2024 cars, in its distinctive blue and white livery, to Belarus. Trains of this model have been in operation since 2024. In addition, in 2023, TMH and Minsk Metro signed a contract for 7 four-car trains.

It should be noted that, since March 2019, the Minsk Metro has also been operating trains supplied by Stadler under a 2017 contract for the delivery of 10 trains, of which six consist of four cars and four consist of five cars.
