
After years of political intrigue, pilot projects and public financing, hydrogen trains may be running out of track. At this year’s RailTech Europe, several rail industry figures suggested that, despite early enthusiasm, momentum is shifting rapidly away from hydrogen, with one ROSCO executive saying he had yet to see “any positive business cases for hydrogen locomotives”. So, with battery trains firmly on the rise, is there still a future for H2 in rail?
