The installation of lime-cement piles to stabilise the ground, combined with certain geological factors, was the trigger for the fatal landslide at Nesvatnet in Norway on 30 August last year. That is the assessment of engineering consultancy Dr.techn. Olav Olsen AS, commissioned by railway manager Bane NOR.
