The European Union is advancing the use of space-based technology in rail, launching a new expert group to assess satellite communication for railway systems like ERTMS and FRMCS. The initiative, led by Europe’s Rail, ERA, EUSPA and the European Commission, follows successful trials with EGNOS4Rail and aims to improve resilience, interoperability and connectivity across the network.
