
Tomáš Tóth, the new head of Czech infra manager Správa železnic (SŽ), has vowed to deliver cost savings of “tens to hundreds of millions” within six months by drastically overhauling the organisation’s internal structure. That’s after his predecessor was dismissed following a graft raid in which investigators reportedly found more than €3 million in cash at his home. Tóth now wants to show that “the huge money going to the railway makes sense,” but he faces a crisis that’s left SŽ fighting to prove it still deserves the public’s trust.
